Dear Reader,
This, the second Special Issue Newsletter, celebrates Lakewold Gardens -
Garden Poetry
https://burlbattersby-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/2a6glov1v-jRTaYq6OrNS02qPOhlRk2ecX9qnxgI4wjvaEFUdhgF-0SqU73rWiGn_khYGbYxGu3pFMbse_hH8Q0CVF8w1EJzh9B2avLng5coYvC3XredJWLEgi-jRQ0gyb7RH2flQmwh7Fv518lt8IKO7kV1ZDn7ew5zkv62l39WxClUJUK2Updh1ZCoe
which continues today and tomorrow.
Yesterday, for the opening event, Harper Glenn
https://burlbattersby-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/2KU9YXmCzn2rck6lwUFdwIdWNNA5m2GqcrhqQK7OTzKHeEFUdhgFrtJBKjIaqPDI8-v8oiXqc14zGMojyE8C7sAWnjqp6748JyGyJOh8lD-1j5x1SZ1zHplJmE_nJ36dISbTXiTiJFCSBpCsfC1oHos7GSsGiYjJGNbQgVvS3rD_EipWGOLOU9Q
and I had the chance to talk and sign books for visitors to the Garden. The
common thread in all the conversations I had was a shared love of the
literary arts and a devotion to creating the community of local writers.
The Garden Poetry enables the local community to gather and celebrate the
beauty of the written word amongst the beauty of the Garden!
I was lucky to have my daughter help me, as the official event photographer
(for my table, at least).
A key to the program is Poetry in the Gardens
https://burlbattersby-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/2OW595vh-fvog3zjB-NYDr-FnpW0oCj6EI8ymSLhhhqziEFUdhgGvD3xHAzdxgA33zmjkjF_GXa4Y0RI9XVJBXwW1PIKwj7MQnHZIDAMtZLl-a43yDLj6-3x60_Xu7_tIihwBsWNX52Wv2aZ9BlByQ9gvmVnJG1Q8lB9cWUN8Rl2Euz4I8nyttS1Sb01_Xw.
I am so excited to have the chance to hear from this year’s winning poets:
Kristy Gledhill, DL Fowler, Tyrean Martinson, Robert Lashley, Carol R.
Sunde, Sayde Heron, Hannah Throntveit, Kael Moffat, Ben Williams, and
Alexandria Maureen Manalo.
Today starts at 10am with a workshop (in-person & virtual) with Christina
Vega, Blue Cactus Press publisher, poet, and a 2022 Poetry in the Gardens
winner. The workshop is Reclaiming Our Stories: a writing workshop on
(re)writing personal narratives to self-empower and actualize writers
