John Marshall Passed

John Marshall, a long time birder in CT, sadly passed away last Saturday in Pennsylvania where he moved after retiring.  I am waiting to receive the obituary and to find out about services.  I will pass along an update when I receive more information.  His daughter asked if I could reach out to people he knew in CT and agreed a post would be a good idea.  If you know any other friends of his, please let them know.  John had a good sense of humor and was fun to bird with.  We took a few birding trips along with other birders out of state.  The boat trip to the Red-billed Tropicbird in Maine was an adventure to remember, along with the White-winged tern in PA, the Greenshank in NJ, and many fine birding moments  of course here in CT.  There was always a good laugh and fun times had by all.  I know he was dedicated to the CBCs here in CT and upstate NY previously.  He was more dedicated to his family, who will miss him greatly.  He would often cut his bird outings short to go home for them - he  used to say “the birds will always be there”.
