Join EarthCorps, PCC Farmland Trust, Tahoma Farms and the Pierce
Conservation District Stream Team as we plant 2 native hedgerows at
Tahoma Farms. The hedgerow will contain 100's of native trees and
shrubs! These hedgerows will attract pollinators to the organic crops
grown in the fields and provide habitat for birds and other small
animals. A tour of the farm facility will be offered following the
planting.
Tahoma Farms is a 38-acre certified organic vegetable farm located in
the Puyallup River Valley, upstream from the town of Orting, Washington.
A former dairy, Tahoma Farms was purchased in 2009 by Kim and Dan Hulse.
Tahoma Farms is part of the Orting Valley Farms project, a collaboration
between Pierce County, Washington State Recreation and Conservation
Office, PCC Farmland Trust and the previous landowners, to permanently
preserve the 100-acre former dairy as certified organic and salmon safe
farmland.
