The US Air Force which manages the facilities on Wake is in the process of deciding whether to rebuild after the extensive damage from a recent typhoon. The folks I talked to there about a year ago were not encouraging when asked about getting supplies or fuel there, even before the recent storm. If they pull out there is no telling what will be the outcome. Maybe it will result in a private enterprise operation of some sort, or perhaps nothing at all. This is worth following as Wake could be an important stopover depending upon developments.
