Seattle Housing Authority is looking to hire 1-2 Artists in Residence (AIR) to participate in a 12 month Artist Residency Program associated with the redevelopment of Yesler Terrace. Artist working in all disciplines and teaching artists are encouraged to apply. This non-live in position provides an incredible opportunity to work closely with Yesler area communities and engage with issues of place and belonging in direct, process-oriented ways. Past Yesler artists have worked on a range of projects from transforming an original unit into a community art space to conversation circles to creating a temporary portrait studio for neighborhood residents. Central to each project is a deep commitment to the people of Yesler, respect for the vibrant traditions and histories of the community, an openness to engaging with the impacts of redevelopment, and a willingness to explore what the changing nature of the neighborhood means with its inhabitants.
