Report to OntBirds, from the week's sightings for the Kingston Region, as
reported the compiler.
Page numbers and location Quadrants noted in square brackets [...], are for
named sites. They refer to the MapArt Publishing "Ontario Road Atlas, 2003
Edition".
Page numbers and Quadrants in Open Brace brackets {.....} are for locations
requiring more detail. They refer to MapArt Deluxe Street Atlas of Eastern &
Northern Ontario, 1st Edition.

Bruce Ripley reported for Nov. 17: At KFN Property: 1 HORNED GREBE 12 TUNDRA
SWANS, 1 RING-NECKED PHEASANT, 1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 1 WHITE-RUMPED
SANDPIPER and 10 DUNLIN

At The Owl Woods: 25-30 LONG-EARED OWLS, 2 SAW-WHET OWLS, 2 NORTHERN
SHRIKES, 20 CEDAR WAXWINGS, 1 PURPLE FINCH

KINGSTON EAST

An adult male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD at 24 King Pitt Rd. about 2 km. East of CFB
Kingston. Verified by many experienced observers on Nov. 21 and 22.

CONDITIONS: The owners are birder-friendly. They request that visiting
birders not block any streets or driveways nearby Please visit in small
groups, 5 or 6 persons at a time are welcome to watch the hummingbird feeder
on the south side of the house from a distance of 20 ft. A good vantage
point is the row of rocks at about that distance south of the feeder.

GROSBEAK and 17 PINE SISKIN at her feeders on Nov. 21

WOLFE ISLAND [page 36, quad E57]

On Nov. 21 while checking Button Bay for TUNDRA SWAN I saw a RARE juvenile
NORTHERN GANNET fly across the north shore of the Bay and continue northwest
out of sight. My grandson & I saw about 300 TUNDRA SWAN from the South Shore
Rd. And a huge flock of diving Ducks from the south end of the 11th Line.
The flock was estimated at 7,000 90% GR. SCAUP and 7% REDHEAD and remainder
LESSER SCAUP and AM. WIGEON.

CARTWRIGHT POINT [P36, D56], {page 48 & 49, quad N20 & M21}

At Cartwright Point West, on Nov. 21 we saw a E. SCREECH OWL in the nesting
box across the road from #3 Woodpecker Lane. A CAROLINA WREN was calling on
Nov. 21 and 22 and the female RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER continues into the 3rd
week at visit our feeders @ 14 The Point Rd.
