Scott,
I promise this is the last you will hear from me on any subject not
directly about passagemaking.
I just need to know. Did you get any bids on e-bay and what was the best
selling price? Just goes to show you what they say about bankers being
either at your feet or at your throat, and lending you an umbrella when
it's sunny and taking it away when it rains.
Peter
Peter promised: this is the last you will hear from me on any subject not
directly about passagemaking.
Scott thinks out loud: why do I not believe this?
And Peter then goes on to insult all our boating banker friends: Just goes
to show you what they say about bankers ...
To which Scott replies: Well, considering you hail from a penal colony I
can understand your perspective relative to banking. I'd be surprised if we
don't get a slug of Shoe salesmen and foot fetish jokes as a result. :)

To answer your question (and because your the 4th person to ask) no one bid
anything for him, my belief is they (my peers) were smart enough to realize
this was going to go south very quickly, or they lacked the chutzpah to step
up and be counted! Do you know how hard it is to get something off of EBay?
Let me tell you it's very, very hard. It took me two hours of email/calling
along with stern warning from the Ebay administrators to delete the listing.
In order that I not break my own rules, I will advise that I used Ebay to
purchase a DVD loaded with all the NOAA Raster charts and three viewing
applications. This is all legit, they are copies from the NOAA public web
site. What wasn't legal was a contact several days later, from a guy in FL
offering to sell me copies of his Maptech charts for the entire Caribbean.
I asked him if they were the original Maptech CD's or copies and he said
"copies". I informed him I don't traffic in stolen goods and declined the
offer. So, be careful of buying stuff from Ebay, just because it's there
doesn't mean it's legal, real or not in some other way wrong.
Sincerely,
