This may not be a municipal attorney question, but surely some of my learned colleagues have information on this issue, maybe as prior city prosecutors. What is the burden of proof for city code violation? Such as vicious dog or even tall grass code violations? Beyond a reasonable doubt, more likely than not, or clear and convincing. None of the subject violations carry any jail time, but the vicious dog violation involves government taking/destruction of private property. Any help appreciated. Please provide some authority.
