Good evening, I'm thrilled to host the 2nd annual Summer SOULstice. So
grateful that Tacoma Art Museum will again host the event. This year we
have more space for more vendors, and I would love support in sharing this
opportunity with local artists. Here's the overview:
SOULstice was created by Kellie Richardson (artist and former Poet
Laureate), to center and celebrate radical resilience and creativity in
communities of color, particularly Black, Brown, Indigenous and LGBTQ
artists. SOULstice will be an intersection of creativity, community and
commerce. June 21st marks summer solstice, the longest day and shortest
night of the year. SOULstice will hold space to celebrate this annual
miracle by featuring emerging and established artists from marginalized
communities. The work featured will carry themes of awakening and healing,
personal connection to Earth and spirit, as well as the thread of human
experience that runs through us all. The weight of historical oppression,
generational trauma has never diminished the indelible joy, creativity,
innovation and pride of marginalized people. SOULstice underscores this
victory. Please keep in mind:
- SOULstice exists to showcase the work of artists/makers from
marginalized communities, and will center these experiences.
- There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for anti-Blackness, xenophobia,
transphobia, homophobia, ableism, sexism, misogynoir, slut shaming, body
shaming, or racism of any kind.
- If you are applying to sell your art/products, they must be handmade
and/or your original artwork. This is not a market for third party sellers
(reproduced prints/postcards/reproductions of your artwork are totally
fine).
- TAM will provide a one table and chair for vendors, but any other
supplies (easels, stands, tablecloths) will need to be brought by the
artist/maker to include point of sale supplies/software (Squares,
Venmo/Paypal app and phone, etc.). The call for artists is located here:

The deadline for applications is May 21, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific
Standard Time.
