I saw the 41 briefly in Stuart a couple of weeks ago. Compared to
our 34, it sure seemed BIG! There's little doubt that this boat will
provide more live-aboard comfort as well as superior sea-keeping
qualities - as compared to her little sister. But, with the price
moving quickly toward the $600,000 mark, I can't say that I am
immediately tempted to place an order.

Brian ask:
How do many of the other list members feel about a 600K price tag for this
size and quality vessel, reguardless of whether or not they are interested in
this particular product??

Brian, a good question.
The builders asking price, of course, is only a part of the total cost.
Here in France you would have to add 19.6% taxes plus shipping costs of
maybe #18K
To bring the equipment levels to my preferred standard and to add a tender,
outboard and safety equipment would add further to the base price.
Even the PDQ 34 is pushed to the top of my budget of #200K.
So OK, the 41 is out of my budget but the answer to your question is "It
depends".
If you have the bunce it's OK - if you haven't, it's not.

And, if I remember comment from son living in England,
it takes $1.90 (USD) to obtain 1 pound Sterling. That
would amount to about 31l6,000 pounds Sterling.
Add all the European socialist taxes and transport, and
you have a really pricey boat that may not even be
suited to European usage.

Perhaps it would be meaningful to compare the PDQ 41 against the competition?
The AfriCat 420 lists at $685,300 fairly well equipped.
Anyone have the current manufacturer's price for the Endeavour
TrawlerCat 40, Endeavour TrawlerCat 44, Manta 44 and Fountaine-Pajot
Cumberland 44?

Hi Georgs
Aeroyacht are showing (via www.yachtworld.com ) a FP Cumberland 44 at USD
683,520
Appears to be standard spec - NO genny, NO aircon, NO heating, NO holding
tanks. Includes some electronics.
Trawlers Midwest are showing (via www.yachtworld.com ) a new Lagoon Power 44
at USD 550,000. From my experience the extras necessary to bring this up to
cruising specs could add a further USD 100,000
Perhaps supporting my earlier statement, a previously owned 2006 Lagoon
Power 44 with full specs is also shown on (via www.yachtworld.com ) at USD
745,00
I believe that production has ceased on the Alliaura Privilege Transcat 42
which was priced around USD 450,000 - this to concentrate on the larger
(much more profitable??) Transcat 48.

Interesting question. We just got a 2002 25 foot Regal for 31k. Clean
creme puff, only 140 hours, dry docked, etc. But.....for another 570k, we
can acquire another 18-20 feet of boat. No thanks.

Rots and Rots and Rots of gas. :>
Just to expand my thoughts about larger boats, our 25 footer does everything
a larger boat does (for my wife and I) in relation to inland cruising. I
can see the merits of a larger boat if you are a liveaboard, entertaining,
or cruise the coast. Fortunately, none of these apply to us. Instead, we
enjoy cruising 30 mph on 2.5+ mpg, paying less in moorage fees, and the
ability to trailer it to other places (like Puget Sound) if we desired.
Adding 2 to 5 feet adds no real improvements....just more money.
Regarding liveaboarding....someday we'll do this when we cruise the loop,
but the idea of this, 24/7, for years doesn't appeal to me. Why not buy a
boathouse with an apartment while mooring a smaller, more flexible boat/Cat?
At least your $$ is invested in an appreciable property vs. a 600k boat.
