All,
The Exec wanted to let you know that Pete Borlase has chosen to leave the Quins and take a Head Coach position with the Barbarians. When we discussed his reasons for leaving he cited a few individual personality differences and was looking for a higher level of commitment but ultimately, the opportunity to coach at the PRP level was the deciding factor for his switch. As it was a difficult decision for him, Pete wishes us all the best and we will keep an open dialogue with him going forward.
At this point, Mark Price and I are working on a Scottish head coach as a potential replacement. We will keep you apprised of any developments going forward, but be sure that we will have a Head Coach by the start of the Spring season and will continue to have the best coaching staff outside of Glendale.
Moving forward, we need to look to each other and band together. The players on the field this Fall won tough, important games that have placed us squarely in the playoff picture in both D2 and D3. We had more competition and dedication this Fall from the club as a whole than I have seen in a while. I truly believe that we are well on our way to being the best in our division and have the Spring to prove it.
Thanks,The Denver Harlequins Exec
Gents,
We put ourselves in a position to compete for Westerns and showed we can play with (and beat) anyone in our division. This changes nothing about the way we view the second half of the season. Adversity can either knock you off your feet or fuel you to greatness. I say we use this positively. Use this to fuel your workouts when you don't want to do another couple of reps or don't want to go for a run because it's cold outside. I loved playing for Pete and wish him the best, but if you're not with us you're against us. We're not good enough? We're not committed enough? Do something about it and come back this spring the best rugby player you can be. See you Saturday.

Well said Stumpy. I was about to bitch out on my running today and then
re-read your email. No excuses.

Good call Stump re getting on the offseason hard, however had a few beers
with Pete Sun and he really enjoyed coaching the Quins and had nothing but
positives to say. He definitely exposed us to a next level of structure and
built on what Pricey, Pearly and Dave had instituted prior to his arrival.
let's continue to improve in all facets of rugby.

Definitely no intent to badmouth Pete when the Exec was putting together
this email. We all enjoyed playing for him, learned a lot from him, are
still friends with him. We just wanted to break the news, address the state
of affairs and hopefully have this serve as the extra bit of motivation for
everyone to get their heads right. It's up to us to get stronger and more
fit, the coaches will make us smarter; the next time we play the Barbos I
want to prove something and fucking smash them and then have a beer with
them after.
