Wade,
We generally run the New Jersey portion on the outside from Atlantic
City to Manesquan. Then make a dash for New York Harbor. We have done
it a number of times in boats ranging from a 23' aux. sailboat to a
Willard 30. The trick is to wait for a decent weather window in
Atlantic City. Don't lose too much gambling in the casinos. It takes us
about a day to go from Abescon to Manesquan at our usual slow speed.
The main problem with the internal route is waiting for bridges to open.
