As is the case at all Trawler Fests, there will be a Listee Linkup 1630
Thursday in the Hospitality Tent at Calvert Marina (where the evening
meals are served). We've moved this event from a volunteer host boat to
landside due to larger numbers attending. Several Listees are on the
program; including Frank Lawyer, Mark Richter, Jeff Siegel, Peter
Pisciotta, Tom Monroy, Gary Corn, Al Golden, and perhaps others I've
missed.
We do this event early each venue to allow faces to be put to names
early. Soft drinks and the odd malted beverage are complimentary.
Program details are on the web site below. I look forward to meeting
many of you there.

We're not attending (registering) Trawler Fest, too pricey for those on a
cruising budget, but we will be in the area at anchor.
Is the Listee Linkup open to those not registered?

Was Isabel invited?
In all seriousness, with a mid to late next week major Delmarva weather
event possible, what preparations are the listees making.
Yes, I know it is still early in the forecast period, but virtually all
mid to long range forecast models are pointing towards the mid-atlantic
region.

We plan to be in Solomons during Trawlerfest. Hopefully Isabel will be
history at that time. Right now, a good guess for Isabel is for it to hit
the Chesapeake area about Friday the 19th.
We got a couple of tight creeks we're thinking about, or maybe a favorite
marina on the western shore.

I'm currently in Stonington, CT, en route from Maine to
Solomons/TrawlerFest. Needless to say, I'm very concerned about the
hurricane situation. I'm planning on going further into the Long Island
Sound and holding there until the storm track is more definite. My
current ideas are then dependent on the storm:
-
Planned hit south of Virginia: stay in the Long Island Sound, perhaps
moving as far east as Pt. Judith, RI.
-
Planned hit more north/east (New England, Cape Cod, etc.): go up the
Hudson River.
-
Planned hit on Long Island: remove the boat from the water.
I'd love to hear any thoughts about this - I've never been through this
on a boat before. I'm also interested in anchorages and other safe
havens up the Hudson...

I think I'd stay right about where you are and watch. Head up the Thames if
necessary. The next 24 to 36 hours will tell the tale re the turn, but most
models are now coalescing into a projected path right up the Chesapeake,
with landfall currently estimated around VA Beach Thursday mid-afternoon.
Good Luck!
