Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Liz Kent

Visitors:
We thank today's observers for their efforts.  Unsurprisingly there were no
visitors today. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, access to the top level of
Hawk Tower is limited to hawk counters and qualified observers only. The
2nd and lower levels are open to the public practising COVID-19 safe
precautions (social distancing). Thank you for your understanding and
involvement.

Weather:
Almost persistent rain today, a couple of bright spells in the morning and
afternoon.  Wind was light to moderate from the north west and the
temperature was around 16c.  Overcast all day with varying visibility.

Raptor Observations:
Today confirmed that it is seldom worth hawk watching in the rain - only 2
Sharp-shinned Hawks all day.

Non-raptor Observations:
The rain limited the amount and variety of species seen today, however duck
numbers on the marsh continue to increase, together with vegetation dieback
making them easier to spot. The day was made worthwhile when a Lincoln's
Sparrow was spotted when birds reappeared in a bright spell. The list is at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S96196863

Predictions:
Tomorrow the rain is forecast to stop early in the morning with the front
passing through. With the wind moderate with a slight northerly component,
hopefully we will have a better day. Temperatures are lower at about 14c.
Maybe this will encourage more migration.
