Tri-butyl tin is a very active anti mildew agent which used to be incorporated in consumer bottom paint. It killed the slime which was the fiirst step in bottom fouling. Unfortunately it killed a variety of marine organisms as well and was banned from bottom paint a generation ago. It is still available in hardware and paint stores for addition to exterior house paint for prevention of mildew.
