CollectionSpace Community:
QA for release v4.4 is now open. Due to the long list of tasks and the addition of four (!) new profiles to this release, we've made some changes to the testing tasks page, which is now housed in worksheet 1 of this Google Doc:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AZbtlZs69F9ptXzUoXl079Xcj-Nx70a02evyU0DPhYA/edit?usp=sharing
To jump in and start testing, visit the the testing tasks page and assign yourself a task by entering your name into the Tester column and an X into the In progress column.
Some tasks are to be completed using the core CSpace installation, while others are testing profile-specific functionality. The Materials and Bonsai communities will be completing their specific tasks, but please feel free to pick up any test with a Common, FCART, Herbarium, or LHMC profile assigned.
The QA server can be accessed via:
https://qa.collectionspace.org/collectionspace/ui/core/html/index.html
To visit the QA server for a profile, simply substitute the profile name in the URL where it reads "core", e.g.:
https://qa.collectionspace.org/collectionspace/ui/fcart/html/index.html
And change the login from admin@core.collectionspace.org to admin@fcart.collectionspace.org, etc.
New to QA testing? Grab a one of the primary or second tab tests - these are the simplest tests and will get you familiar with the process.
Found a bug? Head over to issues.collectionspace.orghttps://issues.collectionspace.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa and let us know about it. QA is a critical part of the process, and we couldn't do it without the assistance of our community.

Megan,
We notice that the Google Spreadsheet and we have a couple questions:
-
Do we test exclusively with the indicated browser (e.g Primary Tab
"Group" test is only tested with Firefox)?
-
This seems to be a test set for the core system. What about the
profiles? Is there some plan to do all test for all Profiles?
Cheers,
John

... please feel free to pick up any test with a Common, FCART, Herbarium,
or LHMC profile assigned.
Is the LHMC (aka Material) profile currently set up for testing on QA, for
tests that use that profile? If so, how does one access this?
Visiting
https://qa.collectionspace.org/collectionspace/ui/lhmc/html/index.html
yields the following error:
HTTP Status 400 - org.collectionspace.chain.controller.BadRequestException:
Cannot initialise CSPs
org.collectionspace.csp.api.core.CSPDependencyException: Cannot parse
config file at
org.collectionspace.chain.controller.TenantServlet.setup(TenantServlet.java:185)
...
When visiting similar URLs, but substituting 'fcart' and 'herbarium' for
'lhmc', those display their respective login pages as expected.
Thanks!

Hi Megan,
Another question about -- possible bug in -- the Google doc:
When I select the link for Intake (or any of the test plans under Primary
Tab), I'm brought to the test plan for the Supplemental-Manual QA for that
record type. I'd expected to arrive at the Primary Tab QA test plan.
Are we still doing both tests, Primary and Supplemental? Should there be a
link to the Primary Tab QA test (for this record type and for all the
others)?
The Google doc is much cleaner and easier to use, by the way. Thanks for
creating it!
Hope summer is treating you well,
Rick

There is no plan to do all tests across all profiles - those tests that need to be done across multiple profiles are indicated.
If you want to get deeper into profile testing, feel free to check out the second tab of the worksheet, which has profile-specific testing.

Hi Megan,
Another question about -- possible bug in -- the Google doc:
When I select the link for Intake (or any of the test plans under Primary
Tab), I'm brought to the test plan for the Supplemental-Manual QA for that
record type. I'd expected to arrive at the Primary Tab QA test plan.
Are we still doing both tests, Primary and Supplemental? Should there be a
link to the Primary Tab QA test (for this record type and for all the
others)?
The Google doc is much cleaner and easier to use, by the way. Thanks for
creating it!
Hope summer is treating you well,
Rick

just not directly from the spreadsheet.)
(And can I help with that, if so?)

LHMC is not up yet - good catch. Will ping the list when it is.
Also, it's different from materials - LHMC is for local history and material culture, while materials is for management of design materials collections.
After this release I'll update the demo page with descriptions of all available profiles.

Is the LHMC (aka Material) profile currently set up for testing on QA, for tests that use that profile? If so, how does one access this?
Visiting https://qa.collectionspace.org/collectionspace/ui/lhmc/html/index.html yields the following error:
HTTP Status 400 - org.collectionspace.chain.controller.BadRequestException: Cannot initialise CSPs org.collectionspace.csp.api.core.CSPDependencyException: Cannot parse config file at org.collectionspace.chain.controller.TenantServlet.setup(TenantServlet.java:185) ...
When visiting similar URLs, but substituting 'fcart' and 'herbarium' for 'lhmc', those display their respective login pages as expected.
Thanks!

Just seeing if you're all paying attention!
If you have time to add those links that's great, otherwise I can take care of it tomorrow morning.

Yet another question:

Is that just a 'yet to do', and those test plans are still intended to be completed in v.4.4? (They are still accessible via links on this page<https://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/collectionspace/QA+Test+plans+-+Listing>; just not directly from the spreadsheet.)
(And can I help with that, if so?)

Hi Megan,
Another question about -- possible bug in -- the Google doc:
When I select the link for Intake (or any of the test plans under Primary Tab), I'm brought to the test plan for the Supplemental-Manual QA for that record type. I'd expected to arrive at the Primary Tab QA test plan.
Are we still doing both tests, Primary and Supplemental? Should there be a link to the Primary Tab QA test (for this record type and for all the others)?
The Google doc is much cleaner and easier to use, by the way. Thanks for creating it!
Hope summer is treating you well,
Rick

Megan,
We notice that the Google Spreadsheet and we have a couple questions:
1. Do we test exclusively with the indicated browser (e.g Primary Tab "Group" test is only tested with Firefox)?
2. This seems to be a test set for the core system. What about the profiles? Is there some plan to do all test for all Profiles?
Cheers,
John

And change the login from admin@core.collectionspace.org<mailto:admin@core.collectionspace.org> to admin@fcart.collectionspace.org<mailto:admin@fcart.collectionspace.org>, etc.
New to QA testing? Grab a one of the primary or second tab tests - these are the simplest tests and will get you familiar with the process.
Found a bug? Head over to issues.collectionspace.org<https://issues.collectionspace.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa> and let us know about it. QA is a critical part of the process, and we couldn't do it without the assistance of our community.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Megan

Thanks much, Megan!
(And thanks for the clarification about the distinction between LHMC and
Materials, as well - I now do see both profiles listed, on various lines in
the QA Test spreadsheet.)

LHMC is not up yet - good catch. Will ping the list when it is.
Also, it's different from materials - LHMC is for local history and
material culture, while materials is for management of design materials
collections.
After this release I'll update the demo page with descriptions of all
available profiles.

Is the LHMC (aka Material) profile currently set up for testing on QA, for
tests that use that profile? If so, how does one access this?
Visiting
https://qa.collectionspace.org/collectionspace/ui/lhmc/html/index.html
yields the following error:
HTTP Status 400 -
org.collectionspace.chain.controller.BadRequestException: Cannot initialise
CSPs org.collectionspace.csp.api.core.CSPDependencyException: Cannot parse
config file at
org.collectionspace.chain.controller.TenantServlet.setup(TenantServlet.java:185)
...
When visiting similar URLs, but substituting 'fcart' and 'herbarium' for
'lhmc', those display their respective login pages as expected.
Thanks!
Aron
