Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: Mac McAlpine
Observers: Eric Single, John Froom, Keith Sealy
Visitors:
Thanks to Mac, Keith, John F and Eric S for getting today's count done.
Weather:
Winds were light from the ENE and E with lots of cloud cover. Temps were
15C to start and getting to 22C.
Raptor Observations:
If the winds had been more northerly today's flight at Hawk Cliff would've
been much bigger. Unfortunately, the mainly easterly winds pushed the birds
to our west.... as proven out by the large counts of Broadwings at both
Holiday Beach and Detroit River hawk watches today.
The counters had a total of 2,405 raptors today with the bulk being
Broadwings (2,284) and Sharpies (55) along with several other species.
Non-raptor Observations:
No passerine report... but a good movement of Monarchs. One of the counters
provided tally of 90 during a few minutes early in the morning.
