Good afternoon Neighborhood Business District leaders, liaisons, and community partners (bcc'd) –
In our ongoing effort to support businesses through this pandemic, the City of Tacoma is launching a second round of $10,000 grants for micro businesses.
I am sharing this information with you a little ahead of launch so you can be prepared to apply and/or be able to share this information with other micro businesses that are in Tacoma so that they may be ready to apply if they qualify. Below my signature block is some important information and the minimum qualifications to assist you in determining if this grant meets your needs and if you would qualify. A news release, flyer (in English and Spanish) and FAQs (frequently asked questions) are also attached.
I will send an e-mail reminder when the grant application is available on April 9.
Be safe. Be well. Be kind.

For details on COVID-19 resources, please visit:
www.makeittacoma.comhttp://www.makeittacoma.com/
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
1. There are many COVID-19 recovery funding resources. Please read and understand the minimum qualifications for each grant or loan, who the funder is (City, County, State, etc.), and keep the contact information on file in case you have questions regarding each specific grant.
2. Washington State also offered two rounds of a grant name Resiliency last year. That grant is different from this grant; the City of Tacoma does not share application/database information with the State of Washington (nor other funders) regarding these grants. If you’ve applied there, it is not on file here and vice versa.
3. If you applied for the City of Tacoma Resiliency Grant in October 2020 but did not receive funding from the City of Tacoma Resiliency Grant (different from the State of Washington Resiliency Grant), you are eligible for this round and we are asking that you reapply to reaffirm that you still meet the minimum qualifications and to recertify the accuracy of your application. [To clarify, if you have already received a $10,000 Resiliency Grant from the City of Tacoma, you are not eligible to receive this same grant in round two.]
4. This is a hardship grant for small businesses that were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and have a documented loss year-over-year (2019 to 2020) of 25% or greater. This grant is to cover basic operational expenses incurred from March 2020 to December 15, 2020 that have not been covered by other COVID-19 recovery funding sources for the same expenses in the same period. (You may not use this grant to cover the costs of current or future expenses, this grant must be used to retroactively cover expenses and lost income.) The expenses include payroll, inventory, rent/mortgage, and utilities. Some home-based business may qualify for this grant but would not be eligible to cover rent/mortgage or utilities with these grant funds.
5. The application DEADLINE IS APRIL 23, 2021 at 11:59pm
6. Recipients will be chosen via lottery and notified on May 11, 2021
7. If chosen, you will need to complete and submit the following paperwork prior to distribution of funds:
most recent personal income taxes to verify household income
City of Tacoma business license
State of Washington business license
Photo ID
DUNS number (call 1-866-705-5711 to request one if you don’t have one)
W9
ACH (banking information for direct deposit)
signed grant agreement
Delay in providing complete and accurate paperwork will delay funding.
8. If you have any questions about the City of Tacoma Resiliency Grant, please refer to FAQ and/or send an e-mail to ResiliencyGrant@CityOfTacoma.orgmailto:ResiliencyGrant@CityOfTacoma.org or call 253-591-5208
