Website effectiveness

We are new residents in Limestone Ranch so we are not in a good place to get into the he said-she said of past communications. However we would like to offer that, when we came into the area in May, we were disappointed to see that the website was so out of date that it would have been safer to shut it down. We now see that the Community News has recently been updated to include all of the 2020 board meetings but surely there is a lot more going on in the community than just board meetings. It would be nice to see other community events posted on the website, such as the recent ice cream event. Also we would have loved to see some form of directory so we could know who our neighbors are. One more thing, I believe there is a more recent budget than the 2013 budget.

All of this complaining is getting ridiculous.  Now is your chance to volunteer if you would like to undertake any of those things you mentioned. Please remember that the board positions are VOLUNTEER positions. These folks do not get paid to do these things, have full time jobs and families. These folks just can’t possibly do it all. There is much more that goes on behind the scenes than you can ever imagine and they continue to look out for our community.  These individuals should be commended instead of continuing to be fussed at from behind a computer or flyers on our doors.  If there are questions or concerns perhaps they can be addressed to the board or Wildwood instead of publicly making assumptions or accusations. If you are not willing to be proactive on your part to seek information, volunteer or go to a board meeting then you have no right to complain. Go to a board meeting or simply call or send a board member an email if you  can’t or are not willing to attend in person. If you want to see some additional things done in the neighborhood then ask how you can help. Don’t just complain about it.

As far as directories are concerned, we have had printed directories in the past but they become outdated as soon as its printed. They are not cheap to print. There were also a fair number of folks who didnt want to be included or never returned the forms. I don’t know anyone who uses a printed phone book anymore either. Perhaps you would like to volunteer to maintain a neighborhood directory online or volunteer to maintain the website for us.

Lastly, did you not know that we have been in the midst of a pandemic?  No organization has been legally permitted to have functions or gatherings since March. We were literally under a Bexar County mandated stay at home order until the first part of June. Gatherings of more than 10 people are still prohibited. The ice cream event was not a neighborhood sponsored event. It was organized by some elementary school parents as a fundraiser for their school. You haven’t missed out on anything.

In closing, let’s remember to be kind to each other. Especially our neighbors and volunteers. Attacking others publicly when you have not bothered to seek information is not the way to do it. Each and every one of our board members and volunteers would give you the shirts off of their backs or come to your aide if needed.  Many neighbors have no idea the things that our board has done or continues to do on a daily and weekly basis for our community.  Just please be kind to one another.

My wife and I have volunteered thousands and thousands of hours and thousands of hours more RUNNING those organizations we volunteered with. We have worked hard training others to step up and help those organizations. In some of them we had to co-ordinate almost 100 different groups and work with hundreds of people regularly. We both still volunteer today. We are the ones who always step up to help but we will not do it here as we are new to this subdivision. And we did it while working and raising our family. So please don’t tell us what we need to do as we have ALREADY been doing it for many decades.
We made a comment about what we had observed when we came into the neighborhood and you chose to respond with an attack on us. We would appreciate if you would follow your own advice and be kind to neighbors who you know nothing about.

Also we would have loved to see some form of directory so we could know who our neighbors are.
