Morning flight at the Hot Corner at Bluff Point in Groton was good this
morning with over 4000 warblers of 12 species. Nearly all Yellow-rumpeds,
highlights included a Wilson's, 4 Black-throated Blue, a Magnolia, 2
Nashvilles, and a Tennessee. An estimated 200 Chipping Sparrows was also
notable. Ruby-crowned Kinglets put on a good show today as well but only a
handfull of Juncos flew out. We should see more Juncos by now.
Additionally, not a single Purple Finch or Red-breasted Nuthatch has gone
through this fall, confirming the prediction of a poor winter finch year
for us here in CT.
