Rainier League of Arts next monthly meeting will be Tues, February 20, 2018, 7 pm at the Mid-County Community Center, 10205 44th Ave. E., Tacoma, WA (Behind Central Avenue Elementary on 104th St. E.) RLA Events and Announcements

February 20th demonstrator will be Kent artist, Cheryl Renee Long , watercolorist. “An artist since the age of 3, Long first began with a tube of limited edition lipstick, using it to draw an entire farm scene on the sheet in her crib while she was recovering from rheumatic fever.” By age 12 she was a serious painter, taking private lessons and then, watercolor grabbed her with a passion.
Like many of us, Cheryl moved away from art, in her case for 18 years, when she married, had a child, became a single parent and had a stressful job. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, she reevaluated her priorities, left her job and began painting again. Now cancer free, she knows that people can benefit from reclaiming their creativity and becoming involved in art.
Cheryl’s subjects are mainly landscapes, birds and flowers. She teaches at Daniel Smith in Seattle and at the Maple Valley Creative Arts Center. Teaching the basics, she tries to get her students enthusiastic about color and how it is so fun and amazing.

All art lovers and artists welcome to attend. Bring a sample of your art and enjoy this wonderful demonstration by Cheryl Rene Long.
