SAWS response

An acquaintance in Fair Oaks received the note below from Jamie Castillo, SAWS VP Operations Support. For us engineers, it is a sensible explanation but, of course, not what we want to hear. Basically is says the water is still spilling out of the system faster than they can put it in so they cannot lift it up high enough to get to us.
"We are faced with a multi-dimensional problem in getting water restored in Fair Oaks, which is at a high elevation relative to the rest of our system. With this wide of an area outage and rolling blackouts, we have to proceed moving up through elevations.
Unfortunately, I do not have a timeline for return of service. The number of homes with broken pipes is preventing us from being able to build the necessary pressure to push water uphill. To put this in perspective - in some parts of town we are pumping more water today than the highest demand days of the summer. That means there are likely hundreds, if not thousands, of water leaks on private property throughout our system."

Why do they continue to say it is homeowners broken pipes and not theirs? Pretty sure it is both.  They aren’t even acknowledging that any of this is because of a problem on their end.  Mind blowing.

Thanks for sharing the information.

BruceI have a friend who lives in Fair Oaks and they have water. He says they have their own water system, not a part of SAWS.  This letter from SAWS is not very encouraging that we will see water resumption soon. Thanks for sharing this info with the LR Community.

As we all continue to experience the water issue, wanted to pass this along concerning some apartments in northern San Antonio that caught on fire from a suspected water tank explosion.
It is reported that firefighters had to bring water to the scene to extinguish the flames because hydrants at the complex were not dispensing water.
While I’m not trying to complain or cast any judgment, we aren’t the only ones frustrated as a result of this problem.

Update on SAWS website related to water bill-

SAWS Providing Water Bill Relief to All Customers - San Antonio Water System

The short of it:

Effective immediately, SAWS will put in place a process to charge ALL customers the lower of two amounts on their next bill: either the total current charges for the current month, or last month’s current charges, whichever is lower.

With this wide of an area outage and rolling blackouts, we have to proceed moving up through elevations.Unfortunately, I do not have a timeline for return of service. The number of homes with broken pipes is preventing us from being able to build the necessary pressure to push water uphill. To put this in perspective - in some parts of town we are pumping more water today than the highest demand days of the summer. That means there are likely hundreds, if not thousands, of water leaks on private property throughout our system."Bruce Anderson_______________________________________________Discussion mailing listDiscussion@lists.limestoneranchhoa.comTo manage your subscription to this list, or to unsubscribe, please visit:https://urldefense.com/v3/http://lists.limestoneranchhoa.com/mailman/listinfo/discussion_lists.limestoneranchhoa.com;!!N5JibfVf!aOdxk_aFRyH4j2sBSfoZpFXwMJ9Yh5NCEOJmOo4xlRxOPhpv_jsk8fCMm4gsKmYV_g$
