The revised official word from Canal Corp: Mariners are advised that heavy rainfall along many portions of the Canal System will delay the annual opening for several days beyond the previously announced May 3rd opening date. Conditions permitting, the Canal Corporation expects to be able to open most portions of the Canal System during the week of May 5th. A revised opening schedule for the 2014 navigation season will be published as soon as possible. Fred Tug 44
