Unable to log into custom tenant

Hi all,

In my testing of CS2.0, I was never able to successfully log into my custom tenant after following the WIKI instructions for the old and mini-build methods. I've just been modifying core instead while testing. (I know that's bad.) The login for the core tenant would still work and I saw the database entries for users in my custom tenant. I never got a useful error from the logs. I think I asked this in a previous email, but how would you like me to report these types of issues? Do you give public access to your JIRA?

Thanks,
Charlie

Hi Charlie,

Thanks much for this report!  I'd be glad to work with you to
resolve this.  We might do this through a new JIRA issue that you
file; the description and comments may help others who encounter this
issue, and through this process, we may well learn of some additional
issues that need to be created and resolved, as well as log entries
and documentation that could be improved.

Accounts on CollectionSpace's JIRA-based issue tracking system are
publicly available:

If you sign up for an account and for some reason find you don't
have privileges you need,  please feel free to write back here on the

Hi Charlie,

For version 2.0 there was a step was missing in the documentation which is related to your issue. Check if you've enabled the change described at http://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/DOC/Creating+your+new+tenant http://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/DOC/Creating+your+new+tenant  under "Application Layer" step 7.c.

Thanks again, Chris, for spotting and adding this entirely necessary
step to the instructions.  On further checking, it appears that step
was present in the v1.12 documentation on setting up a new tenant, but
somehow got dropped in the revision of that document for v2.0.  Here's
the original (see step 11 under "Application Layer"):

http://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/CSPACE112/Creating+your+new+tenant

I believe that configuration step - adding the tenant number to the
app layer local-settings.xml file - is also performed automatically,
if you use the mini-build to set up your new tenant.

http://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/DOC/Creating+your+new+tenant+using+the+mini-build

At present, it's likely much quicker - with fewer manual steps
required - to do a first time setup of a new tenant, at least in the
App and UI layers, using the mini-build.
