Mark,

South of Virginia, use the SSECN website for shopping fuel price, here: http://www.cruisersnet.net.  Their data is generally the most current and accurate.

Best prices in Charleston move around.  In my opinion, I avoid the Charleston City Docks on the Ashely River.  Very congested, very difficult currents, not necessarily best price.  Sometimes good price at the Charleston Maritime Center on the Cooper River side.  Sometimes good price is Ross Marine, on the Stono River, south of Elliott Cut.  Not much south of Charleston until Thunderbolt, GA.  No deals in T'bolt.

Charleston is at StM 465 on the ICW, Brunswick, GA, is at StM 680.  Best diesel price is at Ocean Petroleum (diesel only), in the East River, just past the GA State Seaport, at Brunswick, GA.  Ocean Petroleum is a commercial fuel dock, not a marina.  They fuel the shrimp boat fleet in Brunswick.

There is a small marina at StM 776 on the east side of the ICW, just north of the inlet at St. Augustine, called Inlet Marina.  They have discounts for mentioning their add on the SSECN website and, I think, for AGLCA members.

My best advice, headed south into Florida, fill at Ocean Petroleum BEFORE you cross into Florida.  The state tax difference is substantial in Florida.  Call OP by telephone at 912.265.2275; they have no VHF.  They are also a Monday thru Friday business, approximately 07h30 - 17h00, but they do have a guy who will fuel you on weekends if you make prior arrangements.  There may be a service fee; if so, figure that into the cost of the fuel.  Do not confuse OP with Brunswick Landing Marina, which is just 1/2 mile farther, but not as favorable for prices.

Northbound, you could fill at Florida Petroleum, on the east shore of the ICW, in Fernandina Beach (not to be confused with Fernandina Harbor Marina, which is immediately next door to the south).  FP will waive the Florida sales tax if you are leaving the state for at least 60 days.  Without the sales tax, Florida Petroleum is just about price equivalent to Ocean Petroleum.  With the tax, the price difference is around $.30/gal.  FP is a commercial fuel dock, and it can be lumpy there if winds with a Westerly component are blowing up.

In South Florida, prices are sometimes good at Sunset Bay in Stuart, about mile 8 from the "Crossroads" on the Okeechobee Waterway (just past the Roosevelt Bridge).  In Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, Peterson Fuel Barges.  In Ft. Myers Beach, Ballard Oil Company (another commercial fuel dock).  Seasonally, Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda.

Hope this is useful.

Jim
