Note: Sorry for the timing of the daily report blackout. The irony of
it coinciding with what may have been the most remarkable week of CT
birding is not lost on me. I hope everyone kept up to date on CTBirds
in the meanwhile.
Anyway, lets see what was happening today.
From Fran Zygmont:
09/03/11 - Milford, Milford Point -- Black-necked Stilt, American
Avocet, 3 Black Skimmers and 2 Baird's Sandpiper, 8:10 AM.
From Paul Cianfaglione:

WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, 2 GLOSSY IBIS (brief stay, spooked by farm
truck), 1 DICKCISSEL (flyover). All birds found in pool of water
beyond first tobacco barn.
From Paul Carrier:
09/03/11 - New Hartford, Brody Park -- Olive-sided Flycatcher,
Philadelphia Vireo.
Torrington, north side, yard -- with Dick Bushy, 3:00, at my friends
house on north side of Torrington, had a CAPE-MAY WARBLER feeding.
From Bill Asteriades:
09/03/11 - Stonington, Barn Island -- White ibis continues at 3rd
impoundment north side, mid-day.
South Windsor -- Cattle Egret found by Jamie Meyers continues at end
of Strong Road on right (towards river).
From Alex Burdo:
09/03/11 - Fairfield, Fairfield Country Club, viewed from Harbor Road
in Southport -- 1 White-rumped Sandpiper, 7 PECTORAL SANDPIPER, 3
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER.
From Jay Kaplan:
09/03/11 - South Windsor, Strong Road -- the wetland edges north of
the dirt section of Strong Road harbored American Golden Plover,
Solitary Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, White-rumped Sandpiper,
Semi-palmated Sandpipers, and Wilsons Snipe. The barren farm fields
in the vicinity were loaded with the tracks of shorebirds, so this
area could hold other exciting birds and definitely should be watched
over the next week.
From Nick Bonomo:
09/03/11 - Old Lyme, Griswold Pt (with Phil Rusch) -- adult AMERICAN
GOLDEN-PLOVER, 2 adult WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, juv BAIRD'S SANDPIPER,

West Haven, Sandy Pt (with Phil Rusch) -- 11 juv RED KNOT.
