Every Person Should Count -- And Be Counted.

Hi Judy,
Tomorrow - Tuesday, August 7, at midnight, Eastern time - is the deadline for sending comments to the Commerce Department about the 2020 Census - in particular, telling them to get rid of a question about citizenship the Trump Administration wants to add.
You can leave a public commenthttp://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=7GShfE0TW9EK6UR4mCI4y5YpBGICASUp urging that the Citizenship question not be included and that the 2020 Census be conducted in a fair, professional, and nonpartisan manner.
A citizenship question will depress response rates, particularly among immigrant communities and communities of color. That, in turn, will diminish political representation, from city councils and school boards to state legislatures and all the way up to Congress. It will mean less funding for communities that need it most for education, nutrition, housing, health care, and more, because the resources these programs get depends on an accurate count.
The comment deadline is Aug. 7.

How important is this issue? It is so important that 131 groups, including CHN, have joined two lawsuitshttp://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=FewzhMZcqRs7IT8uPZylFpYpBGICASUp to fight the Citizenship question.  And lots of comments in the public record are important as courts weigh what to do.
We believe every person should count – and be counted. Please leave your public commenthttp://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=KO7A9N78bimvIh3A519SuZYpBGICASUp today.
THANKS!
