Ken,

Unfortunatly on page 435 of the current World Cruising Handbook, by Jimmy Cornell, the text advises that Dogs and Parrots may be destroyed upon arrival to Tonga.  I get the impression the entire S. Pacific is NOT friendly to dogs.  Hard to imagine?

Has anyone spent time cruising in Polynesia with pets? Were you able to take
your pet ashore?

Actually, tye're very friendly to dogs, but only their own "native"
dogs (and other pets).  Importing animals into most of these places
is frowned upon.  Especially in the French territories, as I was told
by locals when visiting last year.
