Que Linda: Introduction

My name is Wayne Almquist and I am the junior crew person aboard MV Que
Linda.  The Que Linda is a 55ft custom Seaton trawler.  This is my sixth
trip aboard Que Linda.  This all happened thanks to Georgs Kolesnikovs, and
Trawler List.  Que Linda was build in 2000 for Hal Wyman.  Hal and his wife
brought her down to Southern California, from Seattle for the Trawler Fest
in Long Beach that year.  Hal wanted to take the boat down to Mexico and
around to the east coast.  He placed an email on trawler list, asking for
crew for a six day nonstop trip to Manzanillo, Mexico.  After checking with
my wife I responded.  Sunday morning we did some shopping and about noon,
off we went.  We had never met before that day.  The other person to respond
to the email was Bob Owens, from Louisiana.  He arrived a few hours before
me and that is why he is senior crew person. The trip to Mexico was great,
and we all enjoyed each others company.  Thru the years we have made several
trips including the Nordhavn Atlantic Rally 2004.  As they say the rest is
history.

This trip is the second part of a cruise we all started in November 2005.  I
arrived first in Fort Lauderdale on Friday following Hurricane Wilma.  Fort
Lauderdale and the greater Miami area was a mess.  Hal could not arrive
until later that evening as the airport was still closed.  I had arrived
from Chile into Miami, and a friend had driven me to the boat.  Thanks to
good planning of Hal and the cement sheds of Bradford Marine, Que Linda was
fine.  No power at the docks, and the place was a mess, but I went aboard
and started one of the generators, by the time Hal arrived we had lights and
AC and running hot water.  Something my friends in Miami did not have for
more than a week.  Bob and his wife arrive a week later and off we went on a
two month cruse thru the Bahamas and the Caribbean.  The trip ended in
Roaton, Honduras at a resort, and marina named Barefoot Cay.  The whole
place is on a private island, and looks like a movie set.  With a lagoon and
even wrecks to dive on.  The weather has been a hot and a little muggy.

Fast forward to April 8th 2006.  Bob and I arrive in Roaton to meet up with
Hal.  A few days of the sights and off we go again.
