Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsJoe,
I'd stay away from the regular Cetol and the Cetol Light. Instead, go with the Cetol Natural. If you want a gloss finish, top with Cetol Clear. It's hard to beat that combination for ease of installation. My only beef with it is that the surface isn't as hard as regular varnish. You can abrade through it quite easily by dragging a dock line across it.

Ya, I definitely would have used the Natural had it been available at the
time!
Also, on another list several folks commented they have had good luck suing
Foam brushes. I tried it and just found the thicker Cetol tended to tear
the brush, leaving black specs. Perhaps I need to purchase better quality
Foam Brushes! But I just use Dollar store brushes and have had no problem
(other than having to pick out a strand every once and a while)
