Colleagues,

Please see the announcement below for a report on the pandemic and adult education published today by ProLiteracy, the E-BAES Taskforce, and the EdTech Center @ World Education,  https://email.proliteracy.org/e2t/tc/VW1RWY8BYPsTW8xPKgG7Zrn2mW5yX2x94d9Lz2N3wqV6y5nxGrV3Zsc37CgX3bW3sv7Vx78nf-qW2QbdGq2pmkdQW1x_tcG45RxJ8W1ct_Jw6bff4-W47_PhW48C6JMW8tJKFY91NZ21W9djTKv6BrM_FW1ZBB6S8zN5pHW1lRMCY4ndX6JW29B9qC24M0S5N6jfCwMSxMd5W99Nfc01QH6SYW6kWlCV7rT_F6W2Ln0kb7F-cwxW3ck4zn8zxzb9W2M_LGH7Y3CYTW8g4RTr2mbF6mVg9pgD27TXlWW2rjxYD59rWcBW1Prjsc86dsHvW8wG3vr95pQFMW3ZvHYl7pBsJRW6Br7xV43s-rvW4jRqxK3gF0cBW6n1xvN8q6nYwN8S5Nl0sgYFrW6L2Kbw1C_bNfVhKTv65mDH11W3hFdv14hkQCkW4qdjFz2tQt2HVqYXXg3xPC3xV3crdZ4TDK13W461qmY1LFd4lW9cNm2H7JZQKX3ky61

This report complements two other projects that also report on ways the adult education field is affected by and is responding to the pandemic:

https://www.lacnyc.org/covid19-impact.htmlhttps://www.lacnyc.org/covid19-impact.htmlfrom the Literacy Assistance Center

https://coabe.org/covid-19-resources/ and other COVID-19 resources

As we look to the continuation of COVID-19 related restrictions on in-person program operations in the late summer and fall, these reports provide essential insights on the ways that teaching and learning are affected and the solutions that teachers and programs have identified.

The report includes information gathered and compiled by members of the https://email.proliteracy.org/e2t/tc/VW1RWY8BYPsTW8xPKgG7Zrn2mW5yX2x94d9Lz2N3wqV7r3p_97V1-WJV7CgVb6VDVyC81Cp6MhW2Zxcss1w0FkzW4ywCbJ64Mw7qW4thlW14jkPtqW1KRS-_2dJgbSW6dNj541WWl2wW7_sPTW8l1KQ9W55mxRH1G4td5W5MzpXv8WshTRW7v1LVz6bTwx3W76HrYY3Xps5nN6nWg15F5yGzW7nvJlh6bY_SkW4SQRQM2Zw05tW5FHlmH313HC4W5rkDlH6CPp-3W3-b10P6gL4w-W5JcHvJ8rlz1CW2lSC7T5Sx1QHN19Zk7dRyKw7W8Tz3883QHMYSW7Mb5x41G_dcNW35mVMx468m29W8j75GQ5KJK5736Qt1 and https://email.proliteracy.org/e2t/tc/VW1RWY8BYPsTW8xPKgG7Zrn2mW5yX2x94d9Lz2N3wqV7r3p_97V1-WJV7CgVJrN2lStsTFw--5N3kKZJh7MR6SW3DC3Bl6bFnTWW4f0MJ_44jMDwW5zdSgC6DcCckW4f_SkW56TjJpW7vZhlF4MGWr2N10P76KQwbGLW5gBMky4fpSRDW52tYR06SWQDBN6lFzLSpJwmKVtppsb6KFmcfW7XT8Sv9jZXMnW6DlCZz18-xwwW9bkhgK3swKCJW2y4WBc1JzH2ZW5yL3C01gYWr_W4KBDjp5XKzXhW6gMvKP8lFBWzW5Z9skT7H4spRW4rZzHf2BNZZSW4PQ9337J8PjkW82DN7T2Gcy-NN70ZZVc7y4NR31891 staff that describes adult education’s response to the pandemic. Findings are intended to inform the field and offer useful suggestions from which adult education and literacy practitioners can benefit.

Two complementary inquiries were implemented, one drawing on interviews and the other on surveys. A diverse pool of practitioners and state
staff participated. The goals were to 1) describe the instructional and programmatic shifts programs made in response to stay-at-home orders and 2) illustrate the challenges and successes they experienced.

Interviews were conducted with 49 respondents from 20 states that reflect program operating conditions 6 to 9 weeks after face-to-face instruction
was halted. Complementary survey responses were collected from 773 teachers, tutors, and administrators about three weeks later.

We hope the information in this report helps adult education and literacy programs nationwide better understand challenges, supports, and
solutions in this unprecedented time of national crisis.

Colleagues,

Please see the announcement below for a report on the pandemic and adult education published today by ProLiteracy, the E-BAES Taskforce, and the EdTech Center @ World Education,   “COVID-19 Rapid Response Report from the Field.”

This report complements two other projects that also report on ways the adult education field is affected by and is responding to the pandemic:

  • The Impact of COVID-19 on NYC Adult Literacy Programs and Students from the Literacy Assistance Center

  • COABE COVID-19 Survey and other COVID-19 resources

As we look to the continuation of COVID-19 related restrictions on in-person program operations in the late summer and fall, these reports provide essential insights on the ways that teaching and learning are affected and the solutions that teachers and programs have identified.

ProLiteracy, the E-BAES Taskforce, and the EdTech Center @ World Education are pleased to share a new report,  “COVID-19 Rapid Response Report from the Field.”

The report includes information gathered and compiled by members of the  E-BAES Taskforce and  EdTech Center staff that describes adult education’s response to the pandemic. Findings are intended to inform the field and offer useful suggestions from which adult education and literacy practitioners can benefit.

Two complementary inquiries were implemented, one drawing on interviews and the other on surveys. A diverse pool of practitioners and state staff participated. The goals were to 1) describe the instructional and programmatic shifts programs made in response to stay-at-home orders and 2) illustrate the challenges and successes they experienced.

Interviews were conducted with 49 respondents from 20 states that reflect program operating conditions 6 to 9 weeks after face-to-face instruction was halted. Complementary survey responses were collected from 773 teachers, tutors, and administrators about three weeks later.

We hope the information in this report helps adult education and literacy programs nationwide better understand challenges, supports, and solutions in this unprecedented time of national crisis.
