*INTRODUCTION TO PAPERCUTTING WITH ANNA BRONES* [image: IMG_0321.jpg] *This is the project we will do at Anna's workshop, Aug. 25 at Minka!* Papercutting is an art that spans history and cultures from Mexican banners to Tibetan flags, and from simple silhouettes to intricate designs. Join artist Anna Brones to learn the basics of papercutting and how to create your very own papercuts. Anna will cover everything from choosing the right paper to finding inspiration and cutting techniques. We will take inspiration from our natural Pacific Northwest setting, and you will complete a papercut in class that you can take home and frame. If you have them, please bring an X-acto knife and a self-healing cutting mat. If you don't have them, there will be tools on hand to use. Space is limited to 8. Cost is $45 for a 3hr. class. Artist's statement: Anna Brones is a writer and artist based near Tacoma, Washington. As an artist, she works predominantly in papercutting, hand cutting illustrations from a single piece of paper. She is the author of several books and loves encouraging others to tap into their creative selves. The outdoors is an important theme in much of her work, and she draws inspiration from the natural world around her. Her work is closely connected to the two physical places that she considers home: the Pacific Northwest and Scandinavia.
