Subject: Zodiac Repair
I sent my Zodiac, Serial Number XDCDO585J788, Model C310, to the repair
facility of a major marine supply operation last spring to have a slow leak
problem resolved. They applied a sealant to the inside of the boat. When
placed in service, I found the Zodiac, estimated to be 12 years old, still
lost air. It was returned to the repair facility who ultimately told me
that it still leaked because sealant had been installed some time in the
past and that it had dried out to the extent that when the boat was folded,
the old sealant cracked and caused it to leak in "champagne bubbles". Does
this make sense? Should the new sealant have compensated for cracking of
the old sealant? Is there another solution to the problem? Any other
suggestions?
