Perhaps there is something we can do as a community to assist or reach out to our neighbor.  A little extra kindness or assistance could go a long way.

The journey to fulfill the wishes of the LSR community through a majority
vote to open the side gate has been long while testing the patience of
many.

Steve Jobs said “The journey is the reward”.  To the Board of Directors,
we have had the unexpected occur during this journey.  We have learned much
about legal processes, adaptability and human nature.  Lastly, the journey
has been memorable.  We have come to appreciate the passion of many to
include those opposed.

Here are the details regarding the progress and opening of the side gate.

We are open.  That sounded so good, I am going to say it again.
We are open tomorrow effective  6:00 am.

As many know, the Fire Marshal’s Chief Inspector classified the side gate
as an emergency exit only, that being the reason cited for the last gate
closure.  Since then, and when challenged by our legal team, they referred
us to the District Attorney’s (DA’s) office.

We have been working for weeks with our legal counsel as well a second
attorney more familiar with the specific needs of our community.

Our legal team working with the DA’s office have come to an agreement.
They received written documentation today from the DA’s office confirming
the agreement.  (1) That we, LSR, have the legal right to allow access by
our residents through that gate onto Waterview Drive.  (2) That the gate is
open to residential traffic with no additional provisions for emergency
vehicle access being necessary as the gate currently meets regulations for
access by emergency vehicles.

Note that we are only allowing egress or exiting at this time.

Starting tomorrow, Thursday, at 6:00 am.  You will only be able to exit.

Although both the Sheriff ‘s Dept. and the Fire Marshal’s office has been
notified, residents outside the gate may not be receptive.  Due to past
behavior, and to ensure a smooth transition, the Sheriff’s dept. will be
controlling traffic Thursday, Friday and then again as needed.

As last time, if someone approaches you while exiting, I encourage you to
take the high road and don’t engage in any discussions.  If they block the
road, threaten or use obscene gestures, do not hesitate to call the Bexar
County Sheriff’s Dept. at
210.335.6010.

If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to any one of the
BODs.

Thanks for your patience and understanding during this period.

Have you guys noticed on the side exit gate what the neighbors put there?  It’s just outside the gate within about 30 feet. Looks like a hose but don’t know if that’s for counting traffic or what. You all be careful.

The Electrical Power line is non operational.  According to the sheriff,
that was parked by the gate, the power to the electrical line was turned off
by CPS, about a week ago. So there is no problem there. The other is a water
line which is still in service.  I think it would be a great idea for the
HOA to reach out the those owners to see if we could render some assistance
in resolving their problems with power and water.  You can always get more
with honey than Vinegar.  Plus they may change their mind about neighbors.

I have been trying to figure out how to help our neighbor by the gate.  I had planned to do something privately.  I would be happy to hear ideas and help coordinate a neighborhood effort.   I had planned to somehow deliver HEB gift cards to him (everyone needs food :-).  However, after hearing his utilities have been cut off,  perhaps we could support him in that way.
Please share positive ideas and solutions.

When my dad was visiting last week, he made a suggestion that if maybe people helped to put a tunnel under the road to bury those lines that he might leave us all alone.

Not sure what all thy involves.

How about a speed bump that could cover the hose/lines? Like they use at
concerts or other temporary venues. It would protect the lines.

I had planned to do something privately.  I would be happy to hear ideas

Don’t forget that is a county road. Any changes etc. would have to be approved by the county.

Thank you so much for all your hard work on this issue. It is crazy the
extent this had to go to. So happy it is finally over.
