Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsIt's snowing heavily ... again. It's cold ... again. So far we had about
6 feet of snow and getting deeper every minute. But the temp has finally
gone up to freezing. This means it must be time for a boat ride!

That's Tender 2 on the left and Tender 7 on the right. Seen at Erie Canal
Lock 20 yesterday. These are the little tugs that do most of the work on
the Canals. And just to show you what they can do, here's Tender 7 in
action:

Hey, Fred. It's 70 today; so I moved the boat out from under the covered
slip to the other side of the pier which runs down one side of the boathouse
so I could work on varnishing the stbd side cap rail from the pier instead
of bending over the hand rail or crawling along the deck. Winter in NWFL,
great time for such work. :)

Sounds just about like around here. More heavy snow on Thursday and then
back below zero again this weekend. We have already had 60 days below zero
so far this winter. Coldest in history. Lake Superior is now just about
completely frozen solid. Climate change anyone?

So, how many people do you know who move to the frozen north when they
retire?
There's therapy for that. LOL

I had to leave Cape Coral FL with 81 degrees to travel to the northern
tundra in Washington DC where its 55 degrees. Warm for the locals here but
really ccccccold for me !
And they had snow last night so I am seeing some snow on the ground where
the sun didn't destroy it. Boy that global warming is destructive ! It must
be killing you up there Fred !

Many of your local countrymen have been snapping up property in SW Florida.
The real estate market is hot this year with the brutal winter elsewhere.
