Which canal are you taking, the Erie or the Welland?

The Welland seems to be a lot more trouble, including clearing into Canada
and then back into the United States when the Erie is right there at
Rochester (Oswego). Can't recall whether the Welland requires three crew for
downbound or upbound but you should check this.

There is a Marina at either end of the Welland Canal. You can purchase fuel from either. Once you start to navigate the canal there is no stopping. The St Lawrence Seaway Authority operates the canal and has strict rules on its use. There is a special use phone booth at each end, (St Catharines and Port Colborne) to contact the Seaway and pay for passage with credit card.Customs can be contacted when landing in Canada though Canpass at 888-226-7277.Hope this helps.Roly ParéRol & C'sHyatt 40
