Long Beach, California, Downtown Shoreline Marina charges by the square foot. My cat is 43' length over all and 22' beam, I am charged for 946 square feet at $0.80 per square foot per month... <snip> Gary contritely replies: OK. My bad. I see that there are indeed some marinas charging for area instead of the more traditional overall length. Is it a coincidence that these changes appear where the dockage is at a high premium? I hope so, as I will remain in the PNW for the forseeable future, and with our significant slip vacancy rate we might dodge the higher cost bullet on this for a while yet.
