Realized, a new exhibit by Kellie Richardson is now open! The project is
sponsored by the Tacoma Arts Commission and will be hosted by Kittredge
Gallery and University of Puget Sound:

Despite the onslaught of racial justice statements and persistent promises
of support and solidarity, America remains a dangerous place for Black
people. America’s wealth and national identity is predicated on the
systemic silencing, oppression, and dehumanization of Black people, and
narratives of Blackness are often centered on hardship, pain and doom. But
reality is subjective, precarious and wholly dependent on our participation
in it, whether past, present or future.* Realized*, a collection of mixed
media collage by Kellie Richardson, explores the question: what is
Blackness uninterrupted? More specifically, how might legacy, family,
wealth, and power look, taste, move and advance when Black people are in
full control of their narrative?  Radically imagined through the birthright
of agency, Realized centers the healing power of disruption, reclamation,
and joy as well as the criticality of rage, grief, and chaos.

The exhibit runs March 7 through April 16 at the UPS Kittredge Gallery -
1500 N Warner St, Tacoma WA 98416. Gallery info and hours can be found here
https://www.pugetsound.edu/kittredge-gallery.

Community is invited to the artist reception Wednesday, March 30th from
5-7pm, and will include artist remarks and Q&A. Flyer below and attached!
