Thanks, Marty for clarifying the location of "The Playpen" in Chicago.
I was responding to a blogger who described as "Playpen" the area I
referred to just north of Navy Pier, an area that is for commercial use and
definitely not suitable or even legal for anchorage. As we both said, the
North area of the Chicago harbor, north of the Water Dock , where the day
anchorage "playpen" is located, is not a quiet anchorage, and has no dinghy
dock or services. There is no suitable free anchorage in Chicago. The
cheapest options are the Monroe mooring balls or the docks at 31st Harbor.
