Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsTwo alternatives to the Playpen (a lunch swim stop for Chicagoans) have been
mentioned. DuSable Marina (city owned) and the Chicago Yacht Club. A third
is Burnham Harbor, another city owned marina. The T docks are reserved for
transients. It is very near the downtown across from Soldier Field and
immediately south of the museum campus. Also a safe area to walk in. Take a
look on a map, Burnham is at the southern end of the downtown lakefront
whereas DuSable is at the northern end. The Chicago Yacht Club is dead
center.

I think DuSable is the closest to the Navy Pier.
