I reckon the cone version works correctly even when an offset is
needed: you shear the hulled shape afterwards instead of translating
one of the end profiles in advance.
BTW, everyone, my post this morning was to share a possible new
technique for those interested in getting a precise design, and at the
same time to improve the code suggestion I posted a few weeks ago; I
realize the other technique, with a thin cube and thin cylinder hulled
together, works just fine in most circumstances.

Advantage is that you can affset them to wherever you want, and the
outside edge only intersects the uprights of the cylinder or square
when the offset is very extreme. In the cone version this will happen
much sooner, depending on the height.
