In my mind there are only two which fit your description-
-and both are west coast boats--not that makes any difference: The C Dory 255 (actually slightly over 26 feet), and the Glacier Bay 2690. Google these for
complete information. However this a good deal more information on the C brats list server. I ope to look at "dive cat" sometime in the next week, since I am currently visiting in S. Calif. (both of these are witin the 8'6" beam, and this beam seems fine for the length.)
The Tom Cat has much more room in the cabin--but the
Glacier Bay is better for fishing. I suspect that the
Glacier bay will have a slightly better ride (displacement, vs planing-if that really makes any
difference in this size of cat).
You really have to look at each boat, and take a ride
before deciding.
Both of these are in the 10,000 lb weight arena when ready
to go on a trailer. I have a diesel Ford Excursion to
pull with--but you need at least a 3/4 ton if not a 1 ton truck. Hiring a hauler would be prohibitive if you are
towing on a regular basis. There are plenty of used
trucks which will do the job at in-expensive prices.
It depends on how wide the load is--a few inches and many
people do it regularly--some without the permits and signs etc. If you were in an accident...could be a problem..
Some folks describe handling characteristics of the
smaller cats in beam and following seas which can be unsettling--others say that if you become skilled in
handling these boats (different than a monohull--it is not
a serious problem.
Incidently both of these boats are suitable for far more than a weekend--the Glacier Bays have made some amazing journeys--and with the reputation of the C Dory owners buying the Tom cats--they will also--one C Dory--smaller boat, lives aboard full time with his wife for over 4 years now and has traveled most of the US, Alaska and Mexico.
