Not sure about all the rest of this but WD40 will make carbon deposits go away. We cleaned small bleed air tubes on jet engines with it. Works great. Will also dissolve brushes on motors, generators etc.. Probably best to just to keep it away from these units and carbon bits you might need.

Not all carbon is bad....
