Weekend Gulls

Hi Folks

The gull and barnacle phenomenon appears to be still going on. This
year is more intensive I have seen in a few years. My problem is that
I would like to be several places at once. Barnacles like rocks. It
would be important to check out the East Haven-Branford shore and see
if the gulls are out there. A lot of activity at the mouth of the
Housatonic River makes me want to sit at Short Beach all day and
watch what the gulls do as the tide change. Then there is the shore
from Long Beach to Penfield Reef. and then there is the Norwalk
Islands and Stamford.

I expect people will be out this weekend to get all their first of
year birds. If you are in any of the above areas I would appreciate
you taking the time to look for these birds an make a not of their
location and an estimate of abundance. Also important will be the
amount of waves, and other species seen feeding with the gulls.
People talk about citizen science, here is a chance to get involved.
Also, Bonaparte's Gulls are around and people will be looking for
Black-headed and Little Gulls. In addition  to the rare stuff I would
like numbers of the Bonaparte's Gull

Thank You
