The Easter Bunny to Visit Vuecrest Contributed by Eileen Foley

Hi there, it's me, the Easter Bunny! I am so excited to be visiting your homes on Easter Sunday, April 12th. I've been very busy this year collecting eggs and filling them for all my great friends in Vuecrest. I have taken extra care filling them, to make sure we all stay safe from this terrible virus that is going around.

A little birdie tells me that you will be at home, but we cannot meet up and play. This makes me a little sad, but I know this is only for a short time and, next year, the Easter Egg Hunt will be back to normal. I'm going to leave your eggs on your lawn, so give me a big wave from your window, and I will keep on hippidy-hopping along my merry way.            Love your pal, The Easter Bunny

Vuecrest 100th St East Entrance is Officially CLOSED

If you haven’t already noticed, the Vuecrest East Entrance is closed for the installation of a new roundabout and will remain closed for approximately 28 days. Construction will continue through the current “stay at home” order.

Please contact Jun An, project manager (425-452-4230) or Isack Habte, construction inspector (425-452-4612) with specific questions or concerns.

Vuecrest Repaving

The entire Vuecrest neighborhood has made the list of repavement projects for 2020! We do not have any specific dates yet, but will keep you updated as information is released. The Pavement Preservation Program collects condition data for all 1,100-plus lane miles of public streets every two years. It’s used to predict needed preservation work and to determine the best timing to maximize resources. A five-year pavement preservation plan is used to coordinate with other public and private projects. The types of work done under this program include:

Resurfacing long stretches of roadways with fresh asphalt, typically done between April and October
Upgrading curb ramps and replacing sidewalks
Routine street sweeping and pothole repairs
Pavement sealing
New pavement markings
The first asphalt resurfacing project for the 2020 Bellevue Pavement Preservation Program will happen in the Yarrow Bay Village neighborhood. We don’t have any dates for the Vuecrest repaving, but there is a weekly update chart on the Bellevue City Website.

Program highlights for 2020:

The city aims to repave about 35 lane miles, including a few miles left over from last year’s program. In 2019, crews smoothed out 37 lane miles; the historical average is approximately 20 lane miles per year.
City contractors this season will focus on repaving in the North Bellevue, BelRed and Lake Hills areas.
Also, part of this year’s work will be the replacement of 57 curb ramps to better serve people who walk and roll.
Repaving work in most neighborhoods takes about one week and does involve some inconvenience to residents. We appreciate your patience as we work to make streets smoother and safer.

Now in its 34th year, the Pavement Preservation Program uses a biennial pavement condition survey and analysis system to prioritize which streets and sidewalks need to be repaved in a given year.

This approach saves money over time by avoiding the need to do complete roadway reconstruction, which can cost many times more than repaving. The program’s annual budget, usually in the $5 to $7 million range, also covers bridge inspections and maintenance.

More information, including a map, project location list, weekly update and video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QipptKMUt4, is available on the program webpage https://bellevuewa.gov/city-government/departments/transportation/safety-and-maintenance/street-maintenance/pavement-and-bridge-management-program.
