In a major victory for police officers, the SCT slammed the 9th Circuit today in a per curiam opinion granting cert, reversing and remanding the 9th Circuit without argument in the case of Stanton v. Simms. The case concluded that the officers should have been accorded qualified immunity when they were sued for entering the curtilage of a home while chasing a misdemeanant. This is one of the cases we had asked our legal advocacy committee to be on the look out for should the court grant cert. The BOLO is now closed. Don't forget our call next Tuesday, Nov 12. We can discuss this case and the stunning victory NYC had in its case involving stop and frisk. Chuck
