Hi Megan and colleagues,
On May 21, Amy Wieliczka sent a proposed contribution to this list for review. We've found the default styling for the read-only accounts is a problem for some people, so Amy did some nice work to make things easier to read. We have had good feedback on this here at UC Berkeley and would like to contribute this change into the 3.2.3 release.
Please let us know if you see any problems with this approach. The first screenshot below is the current styling. The second one includes Amy's styling works.

Prompted by UC Berkeley's Botanical Garden deployment, we've been looking at the colors used on read-only fields and for users with read-only permissions. With the support of the PAHMA, UCJEPS, and botgarden users of CollectionSpace, we'd like to propose a contribution to change the background and text colors to those in the attached readonly-proposed.png screenshot. You can view what read only fields look like next to active fields in readonly-fieldlevel.png. The necessary changes to the CSS can be seen in this commit: https://github.com/cspace-deployment/ui/commit/a7ed15c23283d25c18bc233b4af6a8c27dfb1a7f in the botanical garden's tenant CSS files.

Quick questions, do the hierarchy sections get read-only treatment too? And
would it make sense to hide the deactivated repeatable buttons and the
structured date icons with CSS in this updated scheme? In any case, I think
it's good.
