Better Days Are Coming by Vance Romane
Every one of us goes through stretches in life that feel heavier and darker
than they should be. Illness, loss, breakups, disappointments … the kinds
of moments that make you wonder how much more you’re supposed to manage. We
may say, why me? No one escapes those chapters in their life. They come for
all of us in one form or another. But the part we often forget is that
these chapters don’t define the entire book. They’re just the places where
life slows us down long enough to grow something new.
What I’ve learned in 76 years, and what I’ve watched in others, is that
strength rarely shows up when everything is smooth. It shows up when you’re
tired, when you’re unsure, when all seems lost, when you keep going even
though you don’t feel like the person you used to be. That’s where the real
rebuilding happens. Not in big dramatic moments, but in the quiet ones
where you simply decide to keep moving forward.
I’ve had many roadblocks in my life … health challenges, relationship
struggles, business setbacks, and I’ve learned that breakthroughs don’t
always come from force or from the passing of time alone, but often from a
subtle shift in perspective. Sometimes it was a meaningful conversation
with the right person at the right moment, a single idea from a book that
reframed everything, a recording that spoke directly to what I needed to
hear, or the quiet power of self-hypnosis helping me to reconnect with my
own inner resources. Those small and timely influences have a way of
opening doors that once felt firmly closed.
Some days you won’t feel brave. Some days you’ll just feel like you’re
doing the best you can with what you’ve got. And that’s enough. Forward is
forward, even when it’s slow, even when it’s messy. You don’t need to have
the whole plan figured out. You just need to stay open to the idea that
life still has good things lined up for you, even if you can’t see them yet.
Better days don’t always arrive with spectacular fireworks. Sometimes they
come as a little more peace than yesterday, a little more clarity, a moment
where you catch yourself feeling lighter for the first time in a long
while. And then one day you look back and realize you’ve walked out of a
place you once thought you’d never escape. You feel stronger, a survivor.
So, if you’re in a tough chapter in your life right now, hold steady.
You’re not stuck and you are not finished. It is not the end … you are at
the beginning of something new. You’re in the middle of becoming someone
stronger, more empowered, wiser, and more grounded than you’ve ever been.
When things seemed forever lost, my father always said to me: “Better days
are coming,” and you’ll be ready for them when they do. Here are some
inspiring quotes to move you forward … to find your shining bright light at
the end of the darkest tunnel …
-
"Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.'" – Mary
Anne Radmacher
-
"The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the
broken places." – Ernest Hemingway
-
"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise." – Victor
Hugo
-
"You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In
fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you
are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it." – Maya
Angelou
-
"Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a
butterfly." – Chuang Tzu
