Observers:        Liz Kent

Visitors:
Thanks to all our visitors today who took such an active part in the Hawk
Watch and birding the marsh, especially Carole and Elmer who were around
all day, hoping to see American White Pelicans.  Sorry they didn't turn
up.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Weather:
Bright day with little cloud cover. The wind was strong, generally from the
SW. The temperature started at about 10c rising to high teens late
afternoon. Visibility was good.

Raptor Observations:
Another day dominated by Turkey Vultures (1627), mostly passing the tower
to the north. Sharp-shinned Hawk (42) numbers further reduced today,
Northern Harriers maintained their numbers at 13, with 2 nice males seen.
The remaining four species came with lower numbers, all below 10.

Non-raptor Observations:
Another duck day with nine species.
Blue Jay (4,780) numbers continue to decline.
Remaining species numbers were lower, with the strong wind suppressing
songbird activity. Starlings and Tree Swallows spent the afternoon hawking
for insects over the marsh. The list is at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S120352040

Predictions:
The forecast indicates a northern component to the wind early on, switching
to the south by midday. Relatively high temperature for the time of year
combined with clear skies should result in a pleasant day.  Hopefully this
will bring more Turkey Vultures with a smattering of Buteos which was
largely absent today.
