From Tina Green with Sara Zagorski and Hugh Willoughby:
01/20/15 - Stonington, Lambert's Cove -- 2:00 PM; Sandhill Crane in
view from ST Mary's Cemetery, looking toward the tracks.  Bird is on
the edge of the ice, just standing there.

From Maggie Silverman:
01/20/15 - Stonington, Wheeler Rd -- 3:45 PM; Sandhill Crane in a
cornfield as in the original report yesterday.  Third cornfield on the
right if you were driving down wheeler coming from 184.

From Frank Mantlik, with Frank Gallo and Bob Dixon:
01/20/15 - Stonington, Wheeler Rd -- 4:10 PM; Sandhill Crane in the
southernmost cornfield along the road, south from 184 or north from
234.

From Timothy L Thompson with Maggie Perretto:
01/20/15 - Stonington, as viewed from St Mary's Cemetery -- 5:20 PM;
looking east across the cove, at the base of Amtrak RR tracks (5th set
of double utility poles, to the right of outflow bridge) at waters
edge, SANDHILL CRANE craftily sneeking into roosting Canada Geese
looking for a comfy spot to roost.  Also much other waterfowl seen as
the fading light is escaping from my scope.
I am presuming this is one and the same bird that is feeding from the
cornfields on Wheeler road.  If so, the drive is 5 to 8 minutes
between the two locations and roughly 3 to 5 miles as the crow flies.
Both can be reached off I-95, exit 91. If you arrived heading
northbound turn right at bottom of ramp. For St Mary's, take your
third left onto North Main to Rte 1. At light go right and stay on Rte
1 and go past the Shell station. Cemetery is on your left. Use caution
as the roads are extremely narrow in the cemetery. For Wheeler
cornfields, just stay straight after taking right off exit ramp. Go
back over I-95 and take your first right onto Wheeler. Drive past
Pequot golf course and bear left at fork. Cornfields up ahead on your
left.

From Robert Dixon with Frank Mantlik, Frank Gallo and Maggie Peretto:
01/20/15 - Stonington, Lambert's Cove and also Wheeler Road --
SANDHILL CRANE continues. Located this afternoon by Tina Green and
Sara Zagorski at Lambert's Cove (viewed from St Mary's Cemetery) and
then relocated by Frank Gallo at 4:10 pm on Wheeler Rd in the
cornfield with the little white house in the corner.  It seems the
crane feeds in this cornfield and roosts on the cove. So if it's not
in the cornfield (or you see it and it flies) check the cove (head
back down Wheeler Rd. to Flanders Rd. go right on Rte 1 and then left
into the cemetery). The crane seems to favor the ice behind the
waterfowl on the right side.

From Don Morgan:
01/20/15 - Madison-Guilford, East River Boat launch -- morning; 2
Rough-legged Hawks.  (Lots of details in Don's original message on
CTBirds.)

From Russ Smiley:
01/20/15 - New London, boardwalk south of City Pier -- 7:30 AM; 1st
cycle Glaucous Gull reported previously.

From Glenn Williams:
01/20/15 - New London -- While heading to the New London City Pier to
look for the previously reported GLAUCOUS GULL, the/a Glaucous Gull
flew over the car on Bank Street.  I should mention that this bird was
originally reported as at the State Pier in New London.  This area is
restricted.  The bird has since been reported at the New London City
Pier.  I assume that this was the original location.  I have
accidentally referred to the city pier as the state pier more than a
few times, myself.  The state pier is just south of the Gold Star
Bridge.  The New London City Pier is accessible from the area where
the Fisher's Island and Orient Point ferries are near downtown New
London.

From Daisy Echevarria:
01/20/15 - New London, pier -- before work; GLAUCOUS GULL that stole a
french fry.

From James Winkelmann:
01/20/15 - Guilford/Madison, East River Marsh -- 2:15 PM; Rough-legged
Hawk perched in trees on left (west) of boat launch lane.  There are
actually TWO RL Hawks in the marsh, as Don Morgan originally reported.
When I and another birder left, the first was perched on the house
just to the East of the boat launch lane, and the 2nd was working the
marsh West of the lane.

From Arthur Shippee:
01/20/15 - Hamden, North Lake Dr -- 2 Common Ravens, flying E to W,
over Hamden Land Trust lot.
